Applying to Man
We have aimed to make the application process as easy as possible for you with a quick and simple form to fill in. However, this does mean that the contents of your CV and covering letter are very important for us in making a decision as to whether Man could be the right place for you. So, please ensure that your CV is thorough and accurate and includes sufficient detail on your academic background, strengths and interests.
You should also ensure that your covering letter very clearly states why you are applying to Man and how you think you meet the criteria for the programme which you are applying to.
Preparing for interviews
Do your research! Why do you want to work for a hedge fund? What do you understand about the hedge fund business? It’s all about preparation. Ensure you keep up-to-date on what is going on in the markets. Think about what key factors have shaped the economy over the past 12 months. And expect technical questions!
Useful readings on general hedge fund news are “Hedge Fund Manager Week” and publications such as Absolute Return (which focuses on U.S. single-manager hedge funds), Investhedge (which focuses on Funds of Hedge Funds), Eurohedge and Asiahedge (which focus on Europe and Asia respectively) and the book Running Money.
