For the last three years I’ve been working for RMF – widely regarded as one of the best hedge fund companies around. Here, I analyse funds to see how they’re behaving in different environments and get an in-depth view of performance. On top of this I’m involved in portfolio management and also play a key role with the sales team, acting as a specialist to give advice to clients.

As you can see it’s a varied and high profile role. I’m challenged every day and get exposure to good people. But, the best thing for me is the recognition. Knowing my opinions are listened to not just amongst colleagues and clients but also in universities where I’m often asked to lecture is a huge boost.

I started in 2002 on an internship working one to two days until I graduated. In 2004 I joined the Rotation Programme and spent time across the company, including stints in London. And, in 2009 I’ll be heading off to New York to do the same job. It’s hectic and you need to be a flexible and confident team player, but the culture and people make it all worthwhile.

From here who knows! I may move into a sales role one day, but am happy with the team and my boss, so have no plans to move. But, the nice thing is knowing that if I want to, the flat structure here means I’ll be able to develop in whatever I choose to do.
