I’ve just finished a 10 week internship after being awarded a Man academic scholarship. It’s been a fascinating insight into the business and I’ve gained real exposure – something I didn’t expect.

From day one I was given responsibility, helping to implement an analytical tool that reports on international hedge funds. I was given the freedom to create something original and, seeing that helping the team and adding real value has been amazing.

I’ve realised at Man that quality is certainly put before quantity. Everyone has helped and supported me and my supervisor has dedicated huge chunks of time in being my mentor. I was placed on the 6th floor with the senior managers which was an experience in itself!

I’ve found the internship is a great way to find out if the industry is right for you. It also allows you to see the culture first hand and it’s safe to say I’ve looked forward to coming in every day. I really hope I’ll be able to come back next year.
