I really enjoy doing research so, after reading an article about how Man were looking for people with an engineering background to do exactly that I jumped at the chance.

I look at how financial markets work and how to take advantage of that. At the start, it was fairly small scale but now they are much more complex, pushing my development and really seeing the returns.

I’ve attended a few conferences and courses, but the real training has been on the job. It’s a meritocracy here, which means I’m gradually taking on more responsibility and doing new and interesting things. I’m never stuck in a routine and, If I have an idea, I can follow it through to see if it works.

The social life is great too. After our quarterly results we go on a team night out – last time we hired a bar and had a barbecue. And there are plenty of days out and parties organised all the time.

For the time being I’d like to stay in the same role and continue to learn. All the people I work with are friendly and open to ideas so there’s no need for me to look at any other areas in Man right now.
